THE GOOD NEWS
Q:  What good news?
A:  "It is a trustworthy statement,
deserving full acceptance, that Christ
Jesus came into the world to save
sinners," (1 Timothy 1:15)

Q:  And what are these sinners being
saved from?
A
:  "...that is Jesus, who rescues us from
the wrath to come." (1 Thessalonians 1:10)

Q:  Well, you might be a sinner but I do
not see myself as a sinner.  So how can
you, so boldly, charge me of being a
sinner?
A:  "Indeed, there is not a righteous man
on earth who continually does good and
who never sins." (Ecclesiastes 7:20)

Q:  Ok then, if the Bible says that I'm a
sinner, what will my punishment be?
A:  "For the wages of sin is death,"
(Romans 6:23)

Q:  Truly, this punishment can't be all that
bad can it?  God's wrath is only temporary
right?
A:  "These will pay the penalty of eternal
destruction, away from the presence of
the Lord and from the glory of His power,"
(2 Thessalonians 1:9)

Q:  That sounds pretty harsh.  Why is
God's punishment for sin so horrible?
A:  "The boastful shall not stand before
Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity."
(Psalm 5:5)

Q:  But I thought God is an all loving
God?  Why would He punish someone for
eternity?
A:  "For the LORD loves justice and does
not forsake His godly ones; they are
preserved forever, but the descendants of
the wicked will be cut off." (Psalm 37:28)

Q:  So, if I want to avoid God's
punishment, all I have to do is keep His
Ten Commandments as best as I can
right?
A:  "nevertheless knowing that a man is
not justified by the works of the Law,"
(Galatians 2:16)

Q:  Why is it that keeping God's law is
unable to get me saved?
A:  "For by grace you have been saved
through faith; and that not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God; not as a result of
works, so that no one may boast.”
(Ephesians 2:8-9)
Q: So, if by keeping God's law or doing
good works doesn't get me into a right
standing before God, what must I do to
be saved?
A: "that if you confess with your mouth
Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart
that God raised Him from the dead, you
will be saved;" (Romans 10:9)

Q: What did this Jesus do for sinners
that I must believe in Him?
A: "and He Himself bore our sins in His
body on the cross, so that we might die
to sin and live to righteousness; for by
His wounds you were healed." (1 Peter
2:24)

Q: If Jesus saves me, can I fall out of
His salvation and then have to pay for
my own sins forever?
A: "My sheep hear My voice, and I
know them, and they follow Me; and I
give eternal life to them, and they will
never perish; and no one will snatch
them out of My hand." (John 10:27-28)

Q: Wow! After reading just how terrible
the bad news is, this really is good
news. Jesus must be a powerful savior
to be able to guarantee that kind of
assurance?
A: "Therefore He is able also to save
forever those who draw near to God
through Him, since He always lives to
make intercession for them." (Hebrews
7:25)

Q: So if, by God’s grace, I become
saved, does that mean that it is no
longer necessary for me to obey His
laws or do good works?
A: "For just as the body without the
spirit is dead, so also faith without
works is dead." (James 2:26)

Q: The problem is, the weekend is my
only time to have fun. Do I really have
to attend church on Sundays?
A: "and let us consider how to stimulate
one another to love and good deeds, not
forsaking our own assembling together,
as is the habit of some, but encouraging
one another; and all the more as you
see the day drawing near." (Hebrews
10:24-25)

Friend, I pray that today, if you hear
the Master's voice, that you will not
harden your heart. Instead, obey His
command to put your faith in Him,
repent of your sins, be rescued from
God’s fierce wrath through the Lord
Jesus Christ and to live a life that
glorifies Him.

God bless and we invite you to join us
for worship at our church.
